Early Intervention Centre for Autism at State Resource Training Centre, K.K. Nagar, Chennai
Introduction
In 2012, the State Commissioner for Differently Abled Persons selected Madhuram Narayanan Centre (MNC) to establish an Early Intervention Centre for Autism at the State Resource Training Centre, K.K. Nagar, Chennai (600078). The centre was formally inaugurated in 2014 and has since enrolled children from both nearby and distant areas. MNC serves as the mentoring organization for this centre.
Training & Monitoring
The special educators and staff at the centre have received comprehensive training from MNC in implementing the Upanayan Early Intervention Program. To ensure best practices, senior special educators from MNC conduct weekly visits to oversee the proper completion of assessment forms and the development and execution of Individualized Education Programs.
Evaluation
Periodic evaluations are carried out and recorded by the Principal or Coordinator of Program Implementation to monitor children’s progress toward mainstreaming or to other special schools for vocational training. Special educators also participate in refresher courses offered by MNC, enabling them to address challenges and seek solutions collaboratively.
