The ultimate goal for parents of children with special needs is to successfully integrate their children into mainstream society. Sanmargam, which means “good direction,” is dedicated to preparing these children for this transition by building on the foundational gains achieved during the early intervention program for children aged 0 to 6 years. This initiative focuses on equipping children with the necessary skills and support to thrive in both mainstream and special education settings.
Since its systematic implementation in 2004, Sanmargam has successfully mainstreamed over 130 children, recognizing that approximately 10% of participants in the early intervention program reach a level of functioning that qualifies them for admission to mainstream schools. To facilitate this preparation, a Montessori unit was also established as a platform for developing essential adaptive behavioral skills.
