Government Early Intervention Centre (GEIC), Chennai
Overview
Recognizing the critical need for and importance of early intervention services for children with Intellectual Disability, the Government of Tamil Nadu initiated a project in 2007-2008 to establish one Early Intervention Centre (EIC) in each district. Madhuram Narayanan Centre (MNC) was designated by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Tamil Nadu, as the implementing partner NGO to establish a GEIC in Chennai.
Located within the MNC premises, the Government-aided Early Intervention Centre shares all MNC’s extensive facilities and resources. Children at the GEIC benefit from early intervention services provided under the Upanayan program, as well as a host of other support programs, such as therapy, yoga, nutrition programs, outings and medical check-ups.
