Introduction
Over the past three decades, growing awareness of intellectual disabilities and developmental delays has spurred a rise in the number of early intervention institutions in India. However, the growth of special educators has not kept pace with the proliferation of these institutions. Recognizing this gap, MNC decided to address the shortage by offering accredited courses in Special Education.
Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (DECSE-ID)
The establishment of AVMVK Training Academy, an academic branch of MNC, in honour of our Founder Director, Air Vice Marshal V. Krishnaswamy, on 5 September, 2012, marks a significant milestone in MNC’s history. In 2012, MNC sought approval from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) to conduct a Diploma course in Early Childhood Special Education (MR), which has been granted until March 2026. The academy offers a ten-month Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (DECSE-ID).
Our faculty comprises qualified professionals and visiting experts from fields such as physiotherapy, family intervention, medicine, and speech therapy.
Achievements
During the academic year 2017-18, three students from our program achieved first, second, and third ranks nationally in the DECSE examination conducted by the Rehabilitation Council of India. To date, 72 candidates have graduated from the program, with approximately 53% being MNC special mothers. Many graduates have continued their journey with MNC as special educators.
