Nutrifest - Promoting Nutritional Awareness for Children
Introduction
As part of the Annapoorna Project, Madhuram Narayanan Centre (MNC) proudly hosts ‘Nutrifest’, an annual food festival dedicated to enhancing nutritional awareness. This event, celebrated every March, emphasizes the importance of a balanced and healthy diet for children, particularly focusing on children with disability. Our motto, “Healthy Foods, Healthy Kids”, encapsulates this mission.

Nutritional Value Charts
Pre-Festival Demonstration – Two weeks prior to the event, our partners at the Department of Home Science, JBAS College for Women, Chennai conduct a demonstration aligned with the festival’s theme. Students prepare dishes and create informative charts depicting the calorific value of ingredients. They also provide guidance to mothers on a balanced diet, the use of traditional home ingredients over coloring agents and preservatives and maximizing nutritional benefits for children with special needs.
Festival Day – On the day of the Nutrifest, parents with their children, teachers and other invitees gather in our Prayer Hall, showcasing a colorful array of home-cooked dishes.
This celebration of food serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and spreading awareness on healthy eating.
