MNC’s Early Intervention services for children with disabilities or developmental delays are distinctly family-centered and ideally carried-over into home settings. However, fathers often find themselves excluded from the daily care process, as it is typically the mothers who take the lead
To include and sensitize fathers to their child’s interventions and demonstrate the benefits firsthand, we invite them to spend Father’s Day every year at the center with their children.
The day begins with a prayer in the Assembly Hall, followed by Yoga and Banana time. After this, fathers join the class teacher for an hour-long intervention session tailored to their child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This critical learning session focuses on equipping each child with specific skills until they achieve mastery. Following the IEP session, fathers accompany their children to physiotherapy classes, group activities, and physical education in the yard.
The day concludes with a shared lunch for fathers and their children, along with a feedback session designed to address any questions or concerns they may have. This initiative not only strengthens family bonds but also fosters a deeper understanding of the interventions that support their child’s development.
