Air Vice Marshal V. Krishnaswamy (06 January 1926 – 21 April 2007) earned his Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Madras in 1946 and obtained the Grad. Brit. I.R.E. certification in 1950 from London. He was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1951 and served with distinction until his retirement in 1981, concluding his career at Air Headquarters as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Systems). During his remarkable 30-year tenure with the IAF, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for his exemplary service.
After retiring from active duty, he took on the role of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and led a prestigious project at ONGC from 1981 to 1985. Subsequently, he joined the Sanmar Group of Companies as an Advisor (Electronics), where he collaborated with Mrs. Jaya Krishnaswamy to develop a training program for children with intellectual disability aged birth to six years.Together with his wife, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children, a special school sponsored by the Sanmar Group.
Under his leadership, the Centre has progressively become a leader in special education and training for children, parents, and NGOs.During his tenure, the Madhuram Narayanan Centre received numerous prestigious awards from both State and Central Governments, including recognition from the President of India. In acknowledgment of their outstanding contributions to society, Air Vice Marshal Krishnaswamy and Mrs. Krishnaswamy were honored with the Sadguru Gnanananda National Award in 2005 for Families in Social Work.
He continued to advocate for the welfare of ex-servicemen as President of both the Air Force Association and the Armed Forces Veterans Association, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to service beyond his military career.
