Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children takes pleasure in announcing the 5th National Workshop on Early Intervention in Mental Retardation on 28th and 29th November, 2008. The event proposes to provide a platform for experts and professionals to discuss the recent developments and strategies in the holistic management of children with special needs and their families. The outcome of this annual event is expected to enrich and empower the participants from different parts of the country to deliver quality services to the target population.

The theme for the event is 'Early Intervention - A holistic approach'. The sessions have been carefully planned to highlight the different aspects of an early intervention program. The details of the sessions are as follows:

Session 1: Understanding Autism
An interpretive and participative session aims at Understanding Autism as it ought to be- in a holistic manner.

Session 2 : Play as Therapy - Helping children help themselves
A demonstration of the simple teaching- learning strategies through play methods for young children.

Session 3: Yoga as Therapy - A lifestyle
A demonstration the therapeutic effects of Yoga when adopted as a lifestyle in the life of young children.

Session 4: Understanding Cerebral Palsy
A participative session aimed at understanding the care and management strategies for children with cerebral palsy.

Session 5: Social accounting and social audit
An informative session on the need for social accounting and audit by NGO's emphasizing its impact on accreditation of the organization.

Session 6: An Over view of the Methods in individualized program plan with family support systems at Madhuram Narayanan Centre
An insightful session into the early intervention program of Madhuram Narayanan Centre for exceptional children
